Clary Sage - Salvia sclarea essential oil is special and has me captivated as an essential oil enthusiast and herb gardener. This stunning herb, grown in Northern Provence, France, is hand-crushed and still green upon distillation; the French describe this process as vert broye`(green, ground). Green, crushed Clary Sage has a higher linalool (anti-inflammatory found in Lavender) content than plant material that's been cut and left to dry in the field before the more traditional distillation of Clary Sage.
I selected this beautiful Clary Sage essential oil for its fresh state at distillation, which I believe produces a superior essential oil as well as a crisp green fragrance that can be described as sweet, herbal, soft, green, with elements of lavender and wood.

For sleep during active hormone cycles or menopause, try applying Clary Sage (essential oil or salve) to the inside of the ankles before bedtime. It's an excellent nighttime oil, and Clary Sage is a cooling oil unbeknownst to many!
This bit of Clary Sage trivia was of interest to me, so I'll share it with you too - French Clary Sage crops were established in Provence after World War I by the Gattefosse family, considered to be aromatherapy pioneers.
