Benefits of Turmeric Oil in Skin Care

For generations, people globally have linked turmeric to healing properties and beautifying benefits. Turmeric gets its health benefits primarily because of curcumin, a bioactive component that has anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties.

Modern science is just beginning to study the positive impacts of turmeric oil, but many believe it has beneficial uses for the skin as well - the anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties of both turmeric spice and turmeric oil may revive skin, bringing out its natural glow.

skin care benefits

  1. Curcumin found in turmeric can help wounds by decreasing inflammation and oxidation (aging).
  2. Turmeric can positively affect tissue and collagen (fine lines, sagging skin)
  3. Try a Turmeric face mask to help reduce acne and resulting scars. The anti-inflammatory qualities target pores and calm the skin.
  4. Turmeric is known to reduce scarring.

Growing evidence shows that an active component of turmeric, curcumin, may be used medically to treat a variety of dermatologic diseases. This systematic review was conducted to examine the evidence for the use of both topical and ingested turmeric/curcumin to modulate skin health and function. The PubMed and Embase databases were systematically searched for clinical studies involving humans that examined the relationship between products containing turmeric, curcumin, and skin health. A total of 234 articles were uncovered, and a total of 18 studies met inclusion criteria. Nine studies evaluated the effects of ingestion, eight studies evaluated the effects of topical, and one study evaluated the effects of both ingested and topical application of turmeric/curcumin. Skin conditions examined include acne, alopecia, atopic dermatitis, facial photoaging, oral lichen planus, pruritus, psoriasis, radiodermatitis, and vitiligo. Ten studies noted statistically significant improvement in skin disease severity in the turmeric/curcumin treatment groups compared with control groups. Overall, there is early evidence that turmeric/curcumin products and supplements, both oral and topical, may provide therapeutic benefits for skin health. PubMed

  3. Assists the detoxification of tissue (acne)
  4. Improved pain tolerance (TMJ)

don't forget the raw honey, honey

Honey is also a powerful humectant, which means that it attracts moisture to the skin, making it easier for the skin to heal itself. Honey is clarifying, it strips away the dirt, oil, dead skin cells leaving a fresh glow behind.

Apply a thin layer of raw honey and Turmeric & Black Pepper Power Blend to slightly damp skin using a circular motion. Leave the honey for at least 15 minutes and then gently rinse it off with warm water. You'll find that it easily washes away, leaving you with soft, radiant skin.

pure gold spot treatment

Try this on a pesky breakout. If you're suffering from a breakout, reach for a swab of "pure gold" instead of over-the-counter pimple cream. Applied super lightly, you can sleep with a dab of honey on your face and wake up to less-stressed skin. Swirl a small amount of honey onto a cotton swab and dab onto your breakout.

+  2 drops CW Turmeric & Black Pepper Power Blend
