If you have a family, love traditions and a peaceful ending to the day, I think you might just love this idea! A few weeks ago I was talking with a friend about essential oils, he shared with me how he and his wife end each day with their family. I loved it so much I thought I would pass the idea on to you!
As parents, we have our fair share of crazy busy days but so do our kids. It's important to find some QUIET time together but that's easier said than done, and why I love this family time bedtime routine. A soothing foot massage for each of the kids before they're off to bed offers quiet time, a time to listen and, a great way to help everyone wind down and relax. Seriously, a foot massage can win over even the crankiest teenager or toddler, add pure essential oils to the mix and watch them melt into agreeable people! My friend likes to use Dreamy Sleep Salve for their family foot massages. This is a blend of essential oils that can help calm adrenals and level blood sugar. Dreamy Sleep Salve has other healthy ingredients in it like coconut oil and olive oil, both are great for the body and a good massage oil base. Lucky for everyone involved, this blend has some decent immunity boosting properties to keep the family feeling good.
Under 6 years old I would make these suggestions:
1. 2 drops Lavender per teaspoon coconut oil
2. 1 drop each of Lavender and Marjoram per teaspoon coconut oil
Remember, you can always diffuse restful essential oils in bedrooms if needed at night. A diffuser in the room where everyone is gathered for their bedtime foot massage helps to keep the mood relaxed. Of course, many of you will have your own favorite essential oils for relaxing. Experiment and find out what works best for you.
Start a new tradition that the whole family can enjoy and fall asleep to, it's a great way to show your affection and even lend a listening ear.
